Objective

The purpose of this study is to test an online training for direct support professionals (DSPs) who deliver home and community-based services (HCBS). The goal of the training is to improve person-centered service delivery using a communication skill known as motivational interviewing. When HCBS are person-centered, it means that the preferences, needs and values of the recipient guide the delivery of care instead of the assumptions of the provider about what their client needs.

The training is delivered through short, online “microlessons” between 2 and 10 minutes long.
